Children now more familiar with ALCOHOL brands than biscuits and crisps

Primary school children as young as 10 are more familiar with beer

The survey, conducted by Alcohol Concern and

Campaigners at Alcohol Concern, Balance North East, Drink Wise and Alcohol Focus Scotland are now calling for stricter alcohol marketing regulations to protect children and young people.

Suggestions included that alcohol advertising be restricted to factual information in adult press, alcohol sponsorships be removed in phases, cinema advertising be allowed only for 18 certificate films and a TV watershed be put in place.

Tom Smith, Head of Policy at Alcohol Concern, said: "This research shows just how many of our children are being exposed to alcohol marketing, with an even bigger
